Is there ever a morning in Big Sur that doesn't begin with fog!
A quick breakfast in the parking lot beside our support trailer kinda of reminds me of base camp at a fire incident. Your grateful for anything decent and you don't mind standing up to eat if necessary.
The weather was cool and a light mist greeted us as riders began leaving at 0730. Upon leaving the park your warm-up consists of a steady 2 mile climb and from there it just gets harder. Most all of you have driven south on the coast highway and know how the road winds up and down the craggy coastline.
As to be expected this time of year there is a fair amount of vehicle traffic and CalTrans is always trying to keep up with the latest slide or sink hole. Riders negotiated several one way traffic areas with cars and construction vehicles, but did so without incident.
It was along 90 miles, but everyone made it in one way or another.
Pizza was the cure for the days ills as we dined at the "Pizza Port" establishment. Pizza has a way of making things all better as we headed back to our rooms for some much needed rest.
Thursday is but a mere 70 miles from Morro Bay to Lompoc. The infamous "Harris Grade" awaits.
More about that tomorrow.
Good nite.
